A New Wedding Ring (part 2)

Behind the ScenesMonica Marcella Guerra

After some seriously fun diamond shopping (I love my job!) and pictures and videos sent via email to my lovely cross country clients we decided on a diamond. She already had her heart set on a design so, the next step was building her setting.

This minty tourmaline with flame shields I made was the inspiration for my clients new ring.

Here's an "in process" shot of the ring well on its way to completion. My clients really enjoyed being sent these pictures of the rings journey.

Meanwhile, I carved hard jewelers wax for the husbands wedding band. Once the ring is carved from wax, it is then cast into the metal of choice through the lost wax casting process. I wanted to make sure this band was the right width so I did some photos with a ruler.

This green wax will be cast into 18k yellow gold soon!

The conflict free diamond will soon be set and then the ring will be cleaned up and put in a box and delivered.

And the final reveal....

A new set of wedding rings for my wonderful clients! All 18k yellow gold, and handmade with love. (Not pictured: the super secret romantic engraved message to each other on the inside of these bands)
